Participant in Engineer Development Program
First Rotation: Paint Engineer - Studied the various paint techniques used in-factory, designed and modified individualized hang methods and tooling for operator use. Lead two projects to design specialized masking and encourage Continuous Improvement within the paint and welding departments, monitored product quality after paint application, worked with material flow coordinators to optimize process flow and support lean manufacturing, and worked on cross-functional projects to support both unit-specific and factory goals.
Second Rotation: Cotton Assembly Engineer- Lead project to optimize factory floor layout, maintained OMS, provided engineering support for Power Module sub-unit during production, directed transition process between cotton harvester model changes to maintain 5S and Six Sigma practices, and ensured correct assembly techniques and tools were used to deliver superior product quality
Quality Engineering Intern, Deere and Company, Moline IL May - Aug 2013
Introduced back-to-basics approach for obtaining superior product and service quality to Cylinder division; developed overview and training presentations. Authored 10 HTML programs to create more streamlined process of measuring manufacturing process quality, trained operators on program use and offered continued support with software system. Initiated integral John Deere supplier-audit process to Cylinder; created division-specific materials and collaborated with 8-member team consisting of Quality, Design, Manufacturing Engineering and Supply Management. Completed day-to-day tasks on factory floor to further understand the role of Quality Engineering in the industry: traveled to regional factories, completed capability studies, equipment validations, root-cause analyses, proactive and reactive problem solving
NASA Space Grant Research Intern, UA Office of Sustainability, Tucson, AZ Aug 2012 - May 2013
Developed and initiated a Life Cycle Analysis for 2012 UA Fall Career Days and Homecoming 2012. Managed 6 student groups during data acquisition and inventory, analyzed inventory to create baseline in EcoInvent Database in SimaPro for environmental impacts and energy consumption. Presented recommendations for sustainable events and future project work

Experimented with green Chlorella protothecoides and Nannochloroposis algae for lipid production using genetic modification to increase productivity under strenuous conditions in biofuel applications. Grew algae under stressful conditions, compared growth rates, photosynthesis and OD levels with wild-type cultures, and developed further experiments
