Summary
I am a U.S. citizen and an honors student looking for a full time position. My top 3 highlights are:
• Engineering and Computer Skills: I have been exposed to a number of engineering concepts through my coursework, projects and my internships, which have sharpened my technical abilities. I have also worked with a number of softwares such as Java, Matlab, ASPEN and ImageJ.
• Time Management Skills: I am completing my degree requirements 1 year ahead of schedule while still remaining on the dean’s list every semester along with participating in other activities.
• Interpersonal Skills: I have worked with people on several occasions from being a math tutor, teaching assistant, my senior design project and various leadership positions.
Education
University of Illinois at Chicago – Bachelor of Science August 2012 - August 2015
Major: Chemical Engineering Major GPA: 3.91/4.00
Minor: Economics Overall GPA: 3.70/4.00
Experience
Particulate Solid Research Institute (PSRI): Chicago, Illinois – Research Engineer Intern June 2015 – Present
• Studying the minimum fluidization and bubbling effects of different materials within various types of fluidized bed columns. Using this data to determine the effectiveness of drag correlation models currently used to simulate such systems with simulations being done is DASYLab.
• Collecting bed density profiles during fluidization and defluidization and mapping it to particle size distributions or “clustering” within the column. Studying “clustering” for both air and water mediums to see the effect of drag forces on settling measurements.
UIC Department of Math, Statistics and Computer Science - Math Tutor March 2013 – May 2015
• Assisted students with Math Classes - Algebra, Pre-calculus, Calculus 1, 2, 3 and Differential Equations.
• Led review sessions during exam weeks.
UIC College of Engineering - Undergraduate Teaching Assistant August 2014 – May 2015
• Served as a peer mentor for the freshman engineering students. Introduced them to the Chemical Engineering curriculum and helped them plan out their next 4 years.
Projects
Shale Gas Production and Transportation (Senior Design Project) January 2015 – May 2015
• Fractionate the Bakken shale byproducts into C1-C5 products and send them via truck or train. The C3-C4 hydrocarbons were sold as LPG while the C1-C2’s were used to produce methanol and sulfur was produced as a byproduct. Process simulations were done in Aspen HYSYS.
• Designed control schemes and plant layouts for processes along with looking at economic viability. This included cost and revenue estimates along with Net Present Value (NPV), simple payback period and Discounted Cash Flow Rate of Return (DCFROR).
Soft Matter ODES Laboratory, UIC - Undergraduate Research Assistant May 2014 – August 2014
